He was born on March 26, 1933, in Ashton, Wis., and is predeceased by his parents, Frank and Magdalen (Hellenbrand) Kalscheuer.
After attending St. Peter Grade School in Ashton, Father Kalscheuer attended St. Francis Seminary in Milwaukee where he completed his collegiate studies in Philosophy and graduate study in Theology. He was ordained by Bishop William P. O’Connor on May 30, 1959 at St. Raphael Cathedral, Madison.Father Kalscheuer served the Diocese of Madison as associate pastor at St. Bernard Parish, Madison; St. Aloysius Parish, Sauk City; and St. Victor Parish, Monroe. He then served as pastor at St. Joseph Parish, Argyle; Immaculate Conception Parish, Blanchardville; St. Joseph Parish, Waterloo; and St. Joseph Parish, Dodgeville, from which he retired in 2003.
In 2006, Father Kalscheuer was called out of retirement and graciously served for two years as administrator of St. Patrick Parish, Hollandale linked with Immaculate Conception Parish, Blanchardville, and Holy Redeemer Parish, Perry. During his years of service to the Diocese of Madison, Father Kalscheuer faithfully served as area Vocation Director for Sauk County; Moderator of the Catholic Junior League, and Dean of the Iowa County Deanery.
