COTTAGE GROVE — America’s Best Flowers Garden Center in Cottage Grove will host an event encouraging donation of veggie four-packs for St. Vincent de Paul’s food pantry garden.
Gardeners will have a chance to pick and donate one or more packs of young plants destined to become fresh and healthy produce on the tables of Dane County families in need.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is asking those visiting America’s Best Flowers Garden Center in rural Cottage Grove Friday, April 29, through Sunday, May 1, to purchase and donate vegetable-transplant four-packs.
Each $1.99 four-pack customers contribute at America’s Best, 4311 Vilas Hope Rd., that Friday, Saturday, or Sunday will be planted in a food pantry garden in Fitchburg. With each four-pack purchased for donation, America’s Best will also contribute 50 cents to St. Vincent de Paul for the society’s garden.
Throughout this growing season, St. Vincent de Paul volunteers will tend the 1.25-acre, dedicated food pantry plot known as the Lacy Garden. Produce reaped from this Fitchburg parcel will go to families relying on St. Vincent de Paul’s pantry.
Individuals, family, church, company, civic, or youth groups interested in working at this garden should contact Thomas Parslow at 608-577-6685 or pantrygarden@svdpmadison.org. Visit www.gardensvdpmadison.org for more information.
