Madison: Edgewood College Art Exhibit ( All Day )

Wander, an exhibition of paintings by art professor Robert Tarrell, will open on Friday, March 3, at the Edgewood College Gallery, 1000 Edgewood College Dr., and run through Thursday, April 13.

Robert Tarrell, a professor of art at Edgewood College for 29 years, presents a series of 30 landscape paintings created since 2013, many of which began as plein air paintings, made on site in the out-of-doors.

He has exhibited extensively, including a recent solo show at the Whitewater Cultural Arts Center.

 




Sinsinawa: Handbell Ringers Workshop ( 8:30 am - 3:30 pm )

Handbell ringers are invited to participate in the “Ringin’ Spring Handbell Workshop” to be held at Sinsinawa Mound on Saturday, April 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Musicians with an enthusiasm for handbells will come together to improve their skills.

This event features mass ringing, break-out sessions, lunch, and a closing mini-concert in Queen of the Rosary Chapel. Ringers and directors of all experience levels are welcome.

Director Mark Bloedow and the Ringing Badgers Handbell Ensemble of Madison will lead the day. Bring your own bells, chimes, mallets, foam, table covers, and music.

Sinsinawa Mound, the Motherhouse for the Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters, is located in southwest Wisconsin on CR Z, off Hwy. 11, about five miles northeast of Dubuque.

Knights of Columbus Council 4879, in conjunction with The Round Table, are hosting fish fries every Friday through Good Friday at 1611 N. Bristol St., including Friday, Feb. 17. Doors open at 4 p.m. and dinner is served from 5 to 8 p.m. The dinner features baked or deep-fried cod, shrimp, or chicken tenders. Each fish fry supports a youth group in Sun Prairie. The Theater Bus for persons 55 and over will be traveling to the following events in April:

• Sunday, April 9: The songs of Lennon and McCartney will be performed at the Prairie River Arts Center in Jim Witter’s multimedia presentation. Lunch is at the Dorf Haus. Cost is $72.

• Sunday, April 23: The Bell Tower Theater in Dubuque presents Harris Cashes Out. Lunch is at the Hotel Julian. Cost is $80.

• Saturday, April 29: Maggie Mae Military Tribute to the men and women serving this country, will be held at the Oregon Performing Arts Center. Lunch is at Halverson’s. Cost is $76.
