Sinsinawa: Quilt Exhibit Show ( 10:00 am - 5:00 pm )

The 28th annual quilt exhibit, "Woven Fibers of Life Pieced Together," will be featured at the Sinsinawa Art Gallery beginning Wednesday, Oct. 3, through Sunday, Nov. 25.
Each year the exhibit is fresh and unique as quilts can only be displayed once. Quilters who participate in the show have a connection to a Sinsinawa Dominican Sister or a Mound staff person. Cecelia Kelley of Cambridge is participating in the show for the first time with her quilt, "Red Roses." Theater Bus October Events ( All Day )

The Theater Bus for persons 55 and over will be traveling to the following events in October:
• Wednesday, Oct. 3 -- The dance-filled groovy musical comedy Sweet Charity is presented by the Marriott Theater in Lincolnshire, Ill. Lunch is at Hawthorn Woods Country Club. Cost is $96.
• Friday, Oct. 19 -- Celebration Belle Fall Foliage Cruise on the Mississippi River. Enjoy autumnal scenery and a lunch buffet aboard the boat. Cost is $94.  
• Sunday, Oct. 21 -- Farce of Habit, a hilarious comedy, will be performed at the Bell Tower Theater in Dubuque. Lunch is at the historic Hotel Julien. Cost is $82.

Madison: Edgewood College Concerts ( 7:00 pm )

Edgewood College music department will present two upcoming concerts:
• The Edgewood College Concert Band, directed by Dr. Walter Rich, will perform in concert on Friday, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m. in St. Joseph Chapel, 1000 Edgewood College Dr. Works include Claude T. Smith's "Incidental Suite," and "Beyond the Horizon" by Rossano Galante. Admission is free with a freewill offering to benefit the Luke House Community Meal Program.
• The Edgewood College Choirs and Guitar Ensemble will perform on Sunday, Oct. 21, at 2:30 p.m. in St. Joseph Chapel, 1000 Edgewood College Dr. The Women's Choir, Chamber Singers, and Chorale will offer vocal works that will delight both young and old. These ensembles are conducted by Sergei Pavlov. The Guitar Ensemble, conducted by Nathan Wysock, will perform classical and other selections. Admission is free.




Madison: Moon Over Monona Terrace ( 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm )

Bring the entire family to the Monona Convention Center Terrace rooftop, One John Nolen Dr., on Friday, Oct. 19, from 7 to 9:30 p.m., to view the moon in its full glory through a variety of telescopes provided by the Madison Astronomical Society.

St. Mary of the Lake Parish will hold its Country Fair on Sunday, Oct. 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 5460 Mary Lake Rd. A roast beef dinner will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be a resale shop Saturday, Oct. 20, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 21, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will also be a basket raffle, cash raffle, and bake shop, including sale of the world-famous fruitcakes. Masses are at 5:15 p.m. Saturday and 9 and 11 a.m. Sunday.




Madison: Polish American Heritage Month Events ( 10:00 am )

Poland's 100th Anniversary of Independence is being celebrated in 2018, and October is also Polish American Heritage Month. To celebrate, Madison's Polish Heritage Club will present several events with the display "The Women of Independence." The Battle of Warsaw 1920 movie, followed by a discussion, will be shown on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 10 a.m. at Alicia Ashman Library 733 N. High Point Rd., Madison. The 28th annual quilt exhibit, "Woven Fibers of Life Pieced Together," will be featured at the Sinsinawa Art Gallery beginning Wednesday, Oct. 3, through Sunday, Nov. 25.
Each year the exhibit is fresh and unique as quilts can only be displayed once. Quilters who participate in the show have a connection to a Sinsinawa Dominican Sister or a Mound staff person. Cecelia Kelley of Cambridge is participating in the show for the first time with her quilt, "Red Roses."
