Traveling monstrance: Visits Diocese of Madison

MADISON -- The last monstrance blessed by Pope John Paul II for the purpose of Adoration for Vocations before his death will be coming to the Diocese of Madison Friday, June 16, through Sunday, June 25.

Unlike the traveling monstrance that stopped in the diocese last November, this monstrance is part of the Milwaukee Archdiocese's Traveling Monstrance Program, created to foster adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and Adoration for Vocations. The late pope blessed the monstrance on Easter, March 27, 2005.

All are invited to Eucharist Adoration with the monstrance at the four sites:

• Friday, June 16, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mary Help of Christians Church, W856 Hwy. 18, Sullivan.

• Saturday, June 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 919 W. Main St., Palmyra.

• Sunday, June 18, through Friday, June 23, at Holy Redeemer Church, 120 W. Johnson St., Madison. Adoration will begin Sunday at 10 a.m. in the lower level chapel and continue 24 hours per day, concluding with a Eucharistic Prayer Service for Vocations on Friday at 7 p.m. in the upper church.

• Sunday, June 23, at St. Mary Church, 535 Congress St., Bloomington. Adoration will begin at 10 a.m. after Mass and conclude at 2 p.m. with a closing service.
